The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is the main piece of legislation governing the UK's workplace safety. This act ensures that employers are providing their staff with reasonable workplace conditions, and that there is co-operation between employers and staff on health matters. One way a business can work towards this compliance is by running electrical checks with Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
